Skellig Michael
51°46′N 10°32′V · Kerry, IrelandA monastery of the 6th-8th centuries on an Atlantic rock, its beehive stone cells terraced on near-vertical slopes. UNESCO-listed since 1996. Legend has Michael appearing here to Saint Patrick, helping him rid Ireland of the devil.
On file: the dedication to Michael is attested only from the 10th century, at least two hundred years after the foundation.
